What Makes a True Wilderness Ecolodge in Ecuador’s Andean Chocó

The word ecolodge gets used loosely these days, so let us tell you what it means to us. There is a phrase in Kichwa, sumak kawsay, that Ecuador loved so much it wrote it into the national constitution. It is usually translated as good living or living well, but it means something deeper than comfort. It is a life in balance, with the land, with your neighbours and with time. That idea, more than any brochure word, is what a true wilderness ecolodge is built on.
